The Wizards were able to win the toilet bowl against Cleveland and end their 25-game road losing streak, but there’s still plenty of basketball to be played this season. And I’m not exactly ready to jump on the optimism bandwagon.
Washington’s next road games are as follows: vs. Magic, vs. 76ers (8-2 in last 10 games), vs. Heat, vs. Pistons, vs. Bulls.
In between those games, Washington has a four-game homestand where they could pick up some W’s against teams like the Warriors and Timberwolves.
Even still, things don’t look great for the Wiz. They have a chance against Philadelphia, because they’ve played the 76ers fairly close this season, but Philly has been on a hot streak of late. I’ll go out on a limb and say Washington beats Detroit on March 6, meaning their next road losing streak will only be three games.
But hey, things aren’t that bad. The All-Star break is fast approaching, meaning Wizards fans will be treated to JaVale McGee in the dunk contest and hopefully John Wall in the skills challenge/rookies vs. sophomores game. It would be nice to see two Wizards represent D.C. on a national stage.
This week, I’ll give my two cents on JaVale’s chances against the Blake Show on Saturday, and give some more predictions for the weekend ahead.
