It was reported recently that the temper-tantrum prone and attitudinal Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins demanded a trade during yet another shouting match with head coach Paul Westphal. Almost instantly, Wizards fans began thinking of a way to match the incredibly talented Cousins with his college teammate, John Wall.
However, should Ernie Grunfeld and the Wizards be interested in another knucklehead like DeMarcus Cousins?
The quick answer is an emphatic no. The Wizards already have too many low IQ players that get in their own way, but there is a longer answer too.
While we hear from Ernie Grunfeld time and time again, players like JaVale McGee, Nick Young, Andray Blatche, and Jordan Crawford are talented however, they don’t own DeMarcus Cousins’ talent. Also, if Sacramento would take Blatche and Crawford back in a trade for Cousins, we should at the very least listen. But if the Kings wanted this year’s first round pick or Jan Vesely, Ernie Grunfeld should hang up the phone in record time.
While it’s easy to say no to DeMarcus Cousins, and that’s the right answer to the the title of this article, why shouldn’t the Wizards front office listen if they could get rid of multiple knuckleheads, most importantly Blatche, in exchange for just one — even more talented — knucklehead in Cousins. If that’s the case, consider it.
Since this report came out, Cousins’ agent has denied any trade request and the Maloof brothers, who own the Kings, stated they won’t trade Cousins. So this is all just hypothetical discussion for now, but hey, that’s what we do as fans.
