The drama surrounding Andray Blatche is expected to come to an end by way of the amnesty clause in a few months, but for now, the drama continues.
Michael Lee of the Washington Post tweeted earlier today that Blatche will be shut down for a few weeks while he gets into shape. Interim head coach Randy Wittman cites the calf injury that Blatche suffered earlier this season as a reason for his lack of conditioning. However, Andray hasn’t been in shape for nearly two full seasons now.
It’s been apparent that Blatche’s conditioning has been poor for a while now, like I said, but on Sunday night in Memphis it was painful to watch. Seven-Day-Dray lazily jogged around the court for five minutes against the Grizzlies before being put on the bench for the rest of the game.
There are just over five more weeks left in this season, so we’ll see if Blatche can get himself into shape before then.
If not, Andray Blatche’s last game as a Wizard was this past Sunday.
