This afternoon the Wizards traded Rashard Lewis and the 46th overall pick in next week’s draft to the New Orleans Hornets for veterans, Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza.
Most — like myself — figured that the Wizards would buyout the final year of Rashard Lewis’ contract for 13.7 million dollars. However, now the Wizards have Okafor and Ariza under contract for the next two seasons. Okafor will supply even more depth to the Wizards’ frontcourt and Ariza gives the team a starting small forward and a good defender.
It’s a lot of money to take on for the next two seasons, but I like the trade for both teams.
More to come on Wiz of Awes.
