Remember all the optimism that had spread throughout the Wizards’ fan base? Well, it took a major blow this afternoon when the team announced that John Wall would miss the next 8 weeks with “stress injury” to his left patella tendon. Wall won’t undergo surgery and he is likely out until late November or early December, at the earliest.
I don’t want to be overly pessimistic or negative, but knee injuries — especially those to the patella tendon or knee ligaments — are always an unknown. So while I hope John Wall returns in eight weeks, no one can be sure that he will, and even if he does, they can sometimes linger long-term.
Now the Wizards are left with veteran free agent signing, A.J. Price, and second-year pro, Shelvin Mack to compete for the starting point guard spot while Wall is sidelined.
