After missing the first 30 games of the season, John Wall has finally returned to the team’s practice.
Wall was said to have participated in some contact drills, and even wore his #2 jersey. This news came out of nowhere this afternoon, as Wall wasn’t expected to practice prior to this afternoon. It’s obviously a great sign that Wall has returned to practice, as all signs point to his injury healing quicker than expected.
There was legitimate fear that Wall might miss the entire season, after missing over a quarter of the season already. I honestly can’t wait to see John Wall back on the court. With Wall’s absence, I’ve just now realized how talented Wall really is.
A.J. Price didn’t seem all too surprised that Wall looked good in his first practice, as he told the Washington Post:
He’s still the same player. Fast. Aggressive. He looked good. Looked like his old self
Conditioning will now become key in Wall’s return to the court. I expect the Wizards to bring Wall along slowly, just as the Dallas Mavericks have been doing with Dirk Nowitzki.
With John Wall back, the Wizards will finally gain legitimacy at the point guard position. Bradley Beal will finally have a great running mate, and wont have to worry about finding open shots. With Wall’s superior speed, Beal will get a lot of open shots in perimeter. It will just become a matter of knocking down those open shots.
Let’s just hope and pray that John Wall doesn’t suffer another setback. Although it is just one practice, Wall’s return seems imminent.
I’ll make sure to update this page, as more news will likely flow in.
