According to J.Michael of CSN Washington, the Washington Wizards will bring in several draft prospects for individual workouts, most of which are projected to go in the second round. Some of the names listed in J.Michael’s report include:
- Peyton Siva- Louisville
- Archie Goodwin- Kentucky
- James Southerland- Syracuse
- Mike Muscala- Bucknell
- Khalif Wyatt- Temple
Washington has two second round picks in this upcoming NBA Draft, but have reportedly expressed interest in packaging the picks for a veteran player. None of the guys listed come as much of a surprise since most of them would fill a need. Mike Muscala averaged nearly 19 points and 11 rebounds per game last season at Bucknell, and his versatility on the offensive side of the floor could be a great addition to the Wizards, who were last in offensive efficiency last season.
Archie Goodwin is probably the most surprising guy on the list, since he didn’t live up to expectations at Kentucky and seems like more of a project than an NBA ready player. At 6’4, Goodwin plays the shooting guard position, but will likely transition into a point guard once he gets to the NBA. His inability to shoot the ball is concerning, so I’m sure the Wizards will evaluate his ability to shoot during his workout.
Peyton Siva, who was arguably the face of this years National Champion Lousiville Cardinals, is probably the most notable player listed in terms of popularity. Although Siva is a bit undersized, he makes up for it with quickness and tenacity. Peyton Siva was a very successful college player, but his inconsistent jump shot and size might hurt him in this years draft.
I’m glad the Wizards are doing their homework on these second round draft prospects, especially if they fail to package the picks in a deal to move up in the draft or trade for an established veteran.
