If you were worried that John Wall would become complacent after inking his new deal with the Washington Wizards, don’t be.
The former first overall pick and newly minted $80 million dollar man, John Wall, is still expecting to work out with Hall-Of-Fame point guard Gary Payton this summer.
When asked about specific things Wall is working to improve on this off-season, he stated;
Footwork also, just like catching the ball and working on pivots and stuff,” Wall said about what he has done this off-season in addition to refining jump shot. “Floaters. Watched a lot of Tony Parker throughout the playoffs and I see how Mike Conley added to his game after I went to two of his playoff series.
Although Wall has improved defensively throughout his young career in the nation’s capital, he still needs to polish certain things on that side of the floor and working with Payton could certainly help him in that aspect of the game. “The Glove” is regarded as one of the best defensive guards in NBA history, so it obviously couldn’t hurt Wall to pick his brain.
Last years NBA Rookie of the Year, Damian Lillard, will also join Wall in his workouts with the former Defensive Player of the Year. Both Wall and Lillard were a part of the Adidas tour which took place in China this off-season and were also teammates in this years Team USA mini-camp.
Though Wall didn’t say when the workouts will take place, he’s hoping to complete it before his return to Washington D.C. for training camp.
