For the injury plagued Washington Wizards, this summer has been filled with players rehabbing from various injuries, including Nene who dealt with injuries throughout the entire season last year.
Luckily for head coach Randy Wittman, it seems like everyone is ready for this upcoming season and he won’t have to put out makeshift lineups like he did this past year. Washington never really established roles for their players last year, but with a healthy roster, everyone will have a clear role heading into the season.
Nene is probably the most overlooked player on the Wizards roster, as he’s undoubtedly one of the most important pieces on the team. According to J.Michael of CSN Washington, the Wizards won’t have to limit Nene as previously expected.
He’s feeling good. He looks good. I’m pretty pleased with that. I anticipate him being ready to go. When did we play our last game? Five months ago? He’s done a lot of good work this summer, not only from a rest standpoint but from physical therapy. He’s built his strength back up. I anticipate we’ll head into the season with no restrictions.
Aside from John Wall, Nene is probably the most important player on the Wizards roster, especially since they lack significant depth on their bench. Al Harrington was originally expected to play a bigger role than anticipated, but with Nene back and fully healthy
crosses fingers, training camp will have to determine the key reserves.
The Wizards have been getting great news this offseason, in terms of health. For the first time in a very long time, the Wizards have a legitimate shot at making the postseason, and having Nene back will certainly increase their chances.
