Like many of the other executives around the league, it’s tough to judge these sort of decisions, especially since we don’t get much information about their background and former decisions they’ve made. Before being let go by Masai Ujiri, Marc Eversley was the “director of basketball operations” for the Toronto Raptors for over 7 years, and played a big part in their operations.
Here’s an excerpt from Eversley’s time in Toronto:
Eversley comes to the Raptors from Nike, where he worked for more than 10 years. He spent the past four at the company’s world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon as its player relationship manager. He was responsible for managing athlete relationships, and team and athlete brand management. He was instrumental in developing strong brand relationships for the company with Steve Nash, Elton Brand, Vince Carter and Gary Payton.
The Wizards’ front office has been plucked by several organizations this offseason, but they’ve rebounded by hiring experienced executives, including Frank Ross who served as a scout for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
