NBA Preseason 2013: Washington Wizards vs. Nets Links

Before the Washington Wizards start their preseason campaign against the Brooklyn Nets tonight, check out a few “Wizardly Links” prior to the match up:

Wizards vs. Nets Preseason Preview: (via Wiz of Awes)

We usually take a look at the point guard battle between John Wall and the opposing guard, but since Deron Williams isn’t expected to play in the Nets’ first two preseason games due to an injury sustained in the offseason, we’ll have to look elsewhere.

- Otto Porter won’t be playing in Washington’s first two preseason games: (via Wiz of Awes)

Otto Porter’s hip flexor has caused some concern amongst the Washington Wizards fanbase, especially considering that he’s listed as “day-to-day” but hasn’t participated in any live basketball activity since September 14th.

- The Wizards are trying to make the playoffs, but so are the Cleveland Cavaliers: (via Bullets Forever)

…but when you can’t trade your last two high lottery picks and the No. 1 pick in the draft (weak or not) for a true All-Star in LaMarcus Aldridge, as rumored, it doesn’t say much about your immediate prospects. The Cavaliers are much-improved on paper, but I am not as high on them as many others.

The 2013 Washington Wizards have put the 1st week of training camp behind them.  There is a bit of a buzz around the corridors of the Verizon Center with the new season around the corner.  The team understands it’s challenge from Ted- “No excuses”, and they look ready to get the season underway.

- It’s time for the Wizards to make the playoffs: (via WizardsXTRA)

This team has to make the playoffs to be considered a successful season and these aren’t my thoughts; its the thoughts of Ted Leonsis, John Wall and even the security guard at the front gate.

- Wizards announcers, Dave Johnson and Glenn Consor, also wrapped up preseason with a few audio snippets: (via Monumental Network’s Daily Wizdom)

We can’t wait to grab the microphones. Wizards and Brooklyn tonight from Verizon Center and we will be with you beginning at 6:45 PM on 1500 and joined by 106.7 at 7 PM.

I also hope you can check out Ted Leonsis at 10 this morning with ‘Ask the Owner’ on 103.5. He will be talking Wizards, Caps and taking your phone calls.
