After an awful start to the preseason in Emeka Okafor’s absence, we all pretty much knew a trade was imminent, but no one quite knew who Ernie Grunfeld and the rest of Washington’s brass would try to acquire. On Friday afternoon, the Wizards opted to give up their two most valuable assets (Okafor’s expiring contract and their first round pick, albeit protected) in exchange for Phoenix Suns big man, Marcin Gortat, in order to fill the gaping hole in the middle that was created without Okafor.
Like virtually every single roster move the Washington Wizards have made in the last decade, fans reacted in a ton of different ways, but this trade caused a particular split amongst the franchise’s supporters.
