Washington Wizards forward Nene returns to practice

After having a few days off, the Wizards will try to avenge their loss to the Philadelphia 76ers this Wednesday, and from the looks of it, Nene will be back in action.

Nene has already missed two of the three games this season due to a sore calf. He was scheduled to have an MRI done on Monday, and since he’s back in practice, the MRI must have went well for the Brazilian big man. Without Nene in the lineup, the Wizards have struggled defending the basket and as a result, all of their opponents have shot 50+% from the field thus far. Wizards head coach Randy Wittman has opted to start Marcin Gortat in Nene’s absence, and I’d honestly like to see both international bigs play along side each other. Although Trevor Booker hasn’t looked awful, I firmly believe that Washington’s ultimate success will be determined by their front court.

On the other hand, Wizards rookie Otto Porter hasn’t practiced with the team at all. Now that the season has begun, Porter has missed virtually every practice with his teammates and he’s undoubtedly behind in the developmental process.

This is the best news the Wizards could’ve possibly gotten before heading to Philadelphia this Wednesday.
