The Wizards have struggled shooting the ball from the perimeter without Martell Webster, who went down last week against the Milwaukee Bucks with a sprained ankle, but it looks like they’ll have him back in the lineup this Friday night against the Hawks, per CSN Washington.
Martell Webster appears to be back for Friday’s game at the Atlanta Hawks as the Wizards (9-11) try to end their two-game losing streak and get back to .500.
With Bradley Beal and Martell Webster out, the Wizards have relied on Trevor Ariza for the majority of their success from beyond the three point arc. Randy Wittman has played rookies Glen Rice Jr. and Otto Porter in Webster’s absence, but it hasn’t quite worked out. Chris Singleton has also gotten extended amounts of playing time, but he hasn’t been able to replicate Webster’s presence on the floor.
Washington has been bit by the injury bug again this season, but they’ve still managed to compete unlike in past years. Having Martell Webster back, and hopefully Nene and Bradley Beal soon, should help the Wizards get some more W’s in the win column.
Martell Webster has hit some clutch shots for the Wizards in the past, and seeing how they’ve struggled to close out games recently has definitely made me realize how important he is to the team, especially down the stretch. Without Webster, Trevor Ariza might be the only reliable shooter on the team, and the Wizards have struggled to win as a result. Webster should definitely provide some much needed relief on Friday night, especially going up against the best shooter in the NBA, Kyle Korver.
