The Wizards have won three straight games, all of which have been on the road, but they still have a few challenges ahead of them this month. Washington has beaten both the Knicks and Nets in New York, and are coming off a comeback victory against the Boston Celtics on the road. They’ll have five days to rest without games, which will allow some of their limited players like Bradley Beal and Nene to get rest during days off.
Here’s a look at the remaining games left in December:
- Dec. 27: @ Minnesota Timberwolves
- Dec. 28: vs. Detroit Pistons
- Dec. 30: @ Detroit Pistons
Washington has met both the Pistons and Timberwolves this season, but were only able to pull out the win against Minnesota in the nation’s capital. The Eastern Conference hasn’t gotten much stronger since the last time these teams met, so the Wizards won’t be affected much in the standings if they could come away with at least 1 more victory this month. Washington is currently fifth in the East.
December has been a wacky month for the Wizards considering the amount of rest they’ve gotten compared to November. Washington started on a low note, dropping close games to both the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets, but they managed to pick it up with their recent play.
The return of Bradley Beal and Nene has probably been their biggest storyline this month, and it’s certainly helped them get back on the winning track. Let’s hope their recent success continues for the rest of December.
