The Chicago Bulls are in a hole and virtually every game from now on is considered a ‘must-win’. Washington has looked like the better team so far in the series, but the games have been very close and it’s certainly not over yet. The Wizards haven’t been great at home during the regular season, but I expect them to feed off the energy of the rocking Verizon Center tonight. Washington has a chance to put Chicago away at home and they have to bring the same intensity at the Phone booth as they did at the United Center.
On the flip side, the Bulls are going to have to find a way to score, especially late in games. Kirk Hinrich has led the team in shots during the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarter and the Bulls haven’t been able to hold on to double-digit leads as a result. John Wall and Bradley Beal will definitely continue to have the advantage over Hinrich and D.J. Augustin, so unless someone unexpected like Jimmy Butler starts to score at a ridiculous rate, Chicago’s backcourt has to do a better job at putting the ball through the hoop.
Washington has typically played well in high energy situations during the regular season and I have no doubt that the Verizon Center will provide that tonight. Will they take a 3-0 series lead at home? I guess we’ll have to tune in.
