Washington Wizards Links: Counting Down the Days Until the NBA Draft

We’re just a week away from the NBA Draft and pixels have been pumping out of the Washington Wizards web. Now that there isn’t much basketball going on, most of the pieces have been involving speculation and what the Washington Wizards may do in the NBA Draft and free agency. Here are the Wizardly Links for June 19, 2014.

- Re-signing Gortat should be Washington’s first priority this summer. (via Wiz of Awes)

First, they have both Trevor Ariza and Marcin Gortat, whose contracts expire this summer, hitting the free agent market. Obviously, the Wizards would like to keep both, but they’d have to give up the majority of their cap space in order to do so.

- Speaking of speculation, how would free agent D. Blair fit with the Washington Wizards? (via Wiz of Awes)

I think the chances of DeJuan Blair signing with the Wizards are pretty high, especially if the team decides to let Trevor Booker walk this summer. Blair was supposedly interested in playing for the Wizards last season, and now that they’re a playoff team, I think it would be a perfect fit.

- Peter Hailey caught up with what the Washington Wizards have been doing this summer. (via CSN Washington)

The Wizards, however, finished up their season about a month ago, and after a grueling 82 game regular season, plus 11 more tough games in the playoffs, they are probably enjoying some much needed time off.

- Umair Khan takes a look at second round prospect Patric Young. (via Bullets Forever)

Young won’t fill up the stat sheet, but filled his role in Billy Donovan‘s ball screen offense beautifully. He’s a vicious screen-setter, a powerful force rolling down the lane to suck in defenders and attacks the offensive glass better than most big men.
