We’re a few months away from the NBA season, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting excited, especially if you’re a Washington Wizards fan.
NBA schedules for the 2014-2015 season have been released today and the Washington Wizards got some very exciting news. After not getting a single game on national television (NBA TV doesn’t count) for the past three years, the Washington Wizards will get 10 televised games this upcoming season. The Washington Wizards will also get to play on Christmas Day against the New York Knicks.
Making the NBA Playoffs and pushing the Indiana Pacers to 6 games in the semi-finals has obviously given the Washington Wizards a much needed boost in popularity. For the first time in a very long time, John Wall and Bradley Beal will have the opportunity to showcase themselves in front of the entire world.
Of course, adding Paul Pierce to the team hasn’t hurt either, and I expect him and Carmelo Anthony to match up like they usually do on Christmas Day. That particular match up has always been exciting, even though Pierce isn’t the same player he once was.
I’m obviously very excited for the Washington Wizards’ upcoming season, but particularly excited to see them match up against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on national TV. The Wizards-Cavaliers rivalry might be back, especially since NBA pundits have continued to compare Wall and Kyrie Irving.
The Washington Wizards will also tip off the NBA season against the Miami Heat on October 29, while they’ll match up against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 1st for their home opener.
Get excited, Washington Wizards fans.
