Washington Wizards players put it all on the line in the playoffs, although the run ended in Boston on Monday night. We’ll have a lot of time to analyze what went wrong and how the team can improve this summer. So should the outcome of the series and upcoming summer leave fans feeling excited or worried?

Living life as a D.C. sports fan is rough.

It’s been 25 years since one of the four major D.C. sports teams caressed a championship trophy, which is the 11th longest drought for an American city in the history of sports.

The Redskins failed to make the playoffs. The Capitals lost – in Game 7 – during the Conference Semifinals as a No.1 seed, yet again. The Wizards were eliminated – in Game 7 – Monday night. Now what? I guess we wait until the Nationals shoot their shot in (hopefully) October.

October will mark the beginning of another Wizard quest for a title, but as a Wizards fan, I am not excited.

Yes, Washington is a playoff team that possesses one of the deadliest backcourts in the league. But, if the Wizards want to emerge from the East, let alone compete for the Larry O’Brien Trophy, they must get better.

Continue below to see focus points for the future and why I am concerned.
