After several months since he was traded to the Boston Celtics in exchange for scraps, Jordan Crawford still remains bitter about his time with the Washington Wizards. In a recent interview with Michael Lee of the Washington Post, Jordan Crawford spoke about having the pleasure to play for a storied franchise, such as the Boston Celtics. Crawford also spoke about his time in nation’s capital, but didn’t have many positive things to say. In fact, Crawford went out of his way to throw the Wizards organization under the bus, basically blaming them for his problems with the team. When he was asked to compare his time with the Celtics and stint with the Wizards, Crawford stated

They let everybody be themselves. Everybody a man over here. They treat you like a man and do things the right way, said Crawford, who scored 10 points in a Game 2 loss. I’m around better people. People that, when they see talent, they appreciate it and they try to work you in. They accept real people around here.

I honestly didn’t think I could possibly put Jordan Crawford in the same category as Andray Blatche or JaVale McGee, but his recent comments do not help him whatsoever. Stating that he’s “around better people” with the Celtics is completely absurd. The Wizards have some of the best character players and staff members in the NBA. When times got tough, and they often did, Martell Webster, Emeka Okafor, and even John Wall, were always there for Crawford. Randy Wittman and the rest of the coaching staff tried to make Crawford a part of the rotation, but it’s evident that Crawford didn’t make the most of his opportunity.

I put in the work. Nobody else doing what I’m doing. I could’ve won them more games and that’s what they wanted from me; I think they wanted me to be Superman a little bit. But if I put up a triple-double trying to get them a win and you come in and blame the whole game on me, you know what time it is. You see what it is.

Crawford doesn’t seem to understand the opportunity he was given by the Wizards organization. With an injury plagued roster, Crawford was given the keys to the club, but he failed to buy into the system. Washington is a defensive oriented team, but Crawford played just one side of the floor. He’s a capable facilitator, but his shooting/scoring mentality clouded his versatility. When John Wall and Bradley Beal returned to the lineup, the coaching staff wanted Crawford to play in his original role, as a scoring guard off the bench. With his inability to commit on the defensive side of the floor and his immaturity, Washington was forced to part ways with Crawford.

I find it mind boggling that Crawford doesn’t put any blame upon himself. His “me, me, me” attitude is the reason he has played for three different teams in just three seasons. If Crawford wants to remain relevant, he needs to start embracing his role in the NBA.

Crawford and the Celtics will try to avoid elimination tonight, as they meet the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden.

The Celtics defeated the Wizards tonight in Boston by a score of 107 to 96.

Many Wizard fans were particularly excited for tonight’s game to see how Jordan Crawford, who recently stated he did not remember playing for the Wizards, would perform against the team he thinks he never played for. The former Wizard they should have been paying attention to proved to be Summer League stalwart, Shavlik Randolph. Randolph, who averaged 30 and 15 in China and attributed it all to the Wizards, proved to be the real former-Wizard threat, going for 8 and 7 in only 15 minutes and being labeled the second best big on the court for the Celtics by Celticsblog’s Evan Clinchy. It’s hard to argue that point. Randolph was great in his limited role and the Wizards were relatively lost all night.

The Celtics came out pushing the pace, which played right into John Wall’s frantic hands, as he finished the first quarter with 10 points. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t score again until the very last play of the third quarter. While this game looked more like the first 2.5 years of John Wall, it was still an impressive game. His passing was crisp; his handle tight; and he orchestrated the offense as best he could against a defense that played great as a team. It would be easy to chalk up Wall’s 8-20 night to an excellent defender on the other side in Avery Bradley, but it really was a team effort through and through.

The referees were particularly unforgiving to Wall in this game, allowing him no attempts at the free throw line. This was not all refereeing, however. The team defense, as mentioned, was incredible, and Wall settled for jumpers on 12 of his 20 attempted field goals. The team as a whole took only 12, tied for 10th least on the season. In November of this year, the Wizards attempted only seven against Boston. This is all quite odd considering the Celtics have given up the 6th most free throws in the NBA so far this year.

Tonight was one part Shavlik Randolph, one part no calls on John Wall, one part Brandon Bass, and many parts bad Wizard teammates. With invisible performances from Emeka Okafor and Nene, John was forced to do a lot on his own. That has been the case a lot recently, and, so far, he has handled that weight extremely well. There’s no reason to expect a few old-John games on bad shooting won’t occur when this team’s two leading scorers prior to his return, Crawford and Bradley Beal, are missing from Wizard action. Crawford once asked the rhetorical question of “Who else gon’ shoot?” Wall can ask the exact same question right now, and I don’t blame him. He may not be a score first PG, but he’s acting like it. And why not? After all, who else is going to shoot?

When asked about the Washington Wizards, Jordan Crawford simply stated “Who?”.

Jordan Crawford says he doesn’t remember playing for the Washington Wizards. “Who?”

— Celtics Town (@CelticsTown) April 6, 2013

This ignorant attitude the former Wizard is showing is part of the reason he was traded to the Boston Celtics in exchange for a torn ACL and a foul machine. Prior to getting shipped to Boston, Crawford displayed very childlike mannerisms, pouting from the bench and throwing his jersey in displeasure.

I was personally a fan of Crawford up until today. I don’t like the fact that he’s taking shots at the team which helped make him the person he is today. Washington gave him the platform and playing time to catapult his journeyman career, yet he still has the audacity to act bitter.

Good riddance, “Steez”.
