8. Trevor Ariza‘s 2014 NBA Season

This isn’t as much of a moment but a salute to Trevor Ariza.

He was a crucial member of the Washington Wizards last season and, even though he is now a Houston Rocket, we should remember just how great he was on this squad.

It seems so long ago but right before the NBA Playoffs began, I wrote that he was the most important player for the Wiz to make an extended run. He came through in the clutch time and time again with his three-point shooting and defensive tenacity.

Both sides moved on for the better. Ariza got a bigger role on Houston and the Wizards signed Paul Pierce while developing Otto Porter. While that’s true, the Wizards’ good fortunes during the 2014 Playoffs wouldn’t have been possible without Ariza.

Thanks for everything, Trevor Athreeza.
