Ranking Washington Wizards’ Hachimura among tonight’s MVP candidates
By Keith Cork
2. Trae Young
Trae Young may be my favorite to take home the MVP honors tonight and it’s due to a number of factors.
Factor one: Since the competition has been rebranded as “Team USA” vs. “Team World,” the MVP has never been on the losing team. I fully expect Team USA to demolish tonight and if the trend holds true, that should bode well for Ice Trae.
Factor two: Zion is a humble guy who will take the back seat and let others shine. I truly expect Zion to enable his teammates to play their best games, like a true superstar would, and maybe only take over if it’s close down the stretch.
Factor three: The way Trae Young ball is conducive to these types of awards. He puts up mad stats in a hurry and he’s extremely flashy with his play, making passes and hitting shots he has no business completing. But he does it anyways, and that’s why we love him.
I mean, just look at this stuff:
Young is a ball hawk (I’m going to skip “hog” for now) and I expect him to take a metric crap-ton of shots in tonight’s game. If he’s on fire, as he usually is, he’ll hit them and easily win MVP honors. He’s a kid that likes the big stage, so I wouldn’t be surprised in the least.
