Washington Wizard Bradley Beal Hosts Kids Camp, Schools Kids in the Process

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal was back in the DMV this weekend to host his annual kids camp at South County High School in Lorton, Va. Like many other professional basketball players, Beal didn’t simply show up to do the required photo-ops. He also participated in drills with the kids, and challenged a few to 1-on-1. Let’s just say the Panda doesn’t take it easy on anyone.

Bradley Beal made his way to Lorton, VA this weekend for his basketball ProCamp. The camp hosted around 150 children, and Beal had a very involved presence in the planned activities. He did push ups, taught shooting motions, and took some campers to school.

It’s pretty clear the frustration Beal has after a disappointing end to the season still resonates for the soon to be 24-year-old. And although the defender was a little smaller, the dunk reminded me of one towards the end of the regular season in Detroit.

In her coverage of the camp, the Washington Post’s Candace Buckner noted that Beal was able to get in his first workout at Verizon Center since the end of the season.

"“Once the season was over and the Warriors won, it just is what it is. You just kind of move on from that point. Now you got to get ready for the next season, get ready for the offseason, get better,” Beal said. “I haven’t even touched the basketball yet so this is my first time actually being around basketball so what better way to start it than around a bunch of happy faces and kids that want to get better.”"

Shout out to Beal for not taking it easy on the kids. He could have ended up like DeMatha and the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Victor Oladipo.
