Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Isaiah Canaan and two 2nd Round picks

Houston Rockets Receive: K.J. McDaniels

Breakdown: Outside of Robert Covington, McDaniels has been the 76ers most surprising player this season. He was selected in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft and he has been a contributor from Day One of this campaign. He averaged 9.2 points, 3.8 boards and 1.3 dimes in 25.4 minutes per-game for Philadelphia. His scoring average jumped up to 12.8 points per-game when he receives 30 or minutes. The only problem with his game is the fact that he makes only 40-percent of his shots.

McDaniels opted to sign a one-year deal, so it’s understandable why (Philadelphia General Manager) Sam Hinkie would want to trade McDaniels away after one season. I realize that he is trying to build through the draft but eventually you need to start assembling a roster and holding onto a few players. I bet Hinkie would have kept McDaniels if he were a center.

Canaan has the opportunity to earn some playing time but I doubt he will be of any use, considering he is averaging 1.3 assists to one turnover. I guess he should help them accomplish their goal of losing games.

What this means for the Washington Wizards: There is no impact for Washington on this one either. Watch out for 2025, Wizards fans… the Sixers are coming!
