Most Valuable Player
Ugh.
John Wall is like that kid at a middle-school award ceremony who wins all of the actual awards. Although unlike that kid, Wall deserves all of the prestigious honors I’m giving him. And I’m using the term ‘prestigious’ veeery loosely.
Seriously, though. Is there anyone more deserving of the Most Valuable Player award than John Wall?
Sure, Stephen Curry and James Harden are deserving and should be considered the top candidates, but man, think about how BAD the Washington Wizards would be without John Wall.
Wall is the engine that makes the Wizards go, and this year, he continued to improve.
Defensively, he became a pest. Offensively, he became a literal Wizard.
Virtually everybody on the Wizards’ roster should give Wall a portion of their paychecks. Marcin Gortat has thrived in Washington because of Wall. Bradley Beal has found open threes for days because of Wall. Heck, even Martell Webster got a mid-level exception deal after playing just a single season with John Wall.
Memo to free agents: If you want to get paid, play with John Wall. He’s going to get you paid.
Not only was Wall fantastic on the court, becoming an All-Star starter for the first time in his career, but he’s become a leader off the court. His touching interview following the passing of his friend Miyah will be remembered forever. Wall is a franchise basketball player, but he’s an even better person.
We’re truly blessed to have him on the Washington Wizards.
