John Wall: A Post Game

When people talk about things John Wall needs to improve on, they automatically think about his inconsistent jump shot.

However, the numbers show that Wall’s mid-range jumper is constantly improving. During the end of December, with the help of veteran point guard Andre Miller, John Wall was beginning to work on and implement a few effective post moves and play to his game.

Once Miller was traded mid-season, we didn’t see Wall attempt the post moves afterwards. With Wall possessing other worldly speed and athleticism, people rarely mention that Wall is actually a big guard (6’4 195).

Out of all of the best point guards in the league that John Wall gets mentioned with (Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, etc) Wall is actually the tallest out of the bunch and could really benefit from adding a ‘back to the basket’ dimension to his game.

For a comparison, Jason Kidd was almost impossible for other PG’s to guard after adding a post-up game. Because of Kidd’s size (he is also 6’4), he was able to see over the top of defenses and pass out of double teams to find open cutters.

With Wall’s vision and passing skills, he would be able to do the same.
