Bradley Beal: Handling The Ball

Because of his gorgeous jumper, basketball watchers tend to forget how athletic Beal is.

Beal has had some eye opening dunks this past season and he even occasionally skies for rebounds with the bigs in the paint. That being said, Beal often had trouble creating his own shot off of the dribble and usually had to rely on Wall to set him up for his shots.

Beal also has a tendency to pick up his dribble at odd spots on the floor which makes him a non-threat after he does so. Once Wall went down in the playoffs, Beal was forced to handle the ball more with awesome results.

While playing a combo point guard/shooting guard role alongside Sessions during the Atlanta series, he made (mostly) good passes into the post, found open guys on the perimeter and most importantly, attacked more often and kept his dribble alive to do so.

His handles are currently ‘serviceable’, but if Beal were to upgrade them and become more of an off the dribble threat, he would definitely be mentioned in the top shooting guard in the NBA conversation along with James Harden and Klay Thompson. Beal would also probably be on his way to making his first All-Star appearance for the Washington Wizards.
