Summer To Do List For Washington Wizards: What Each Player Should Improve On

Marcin Gortat: Footwork
Marcin Gortat has become one of the best big men in the league at running the pick and roll with John Wall.
He always knows exactly when to flash and once he does get the ball on the move, he usually scores with ease. Gortat gets into trouble defending outside of the paint and picking up cheap early fouls sometimes setting the pick in the aforementioned pick and rolls.
When Wall went down with injury against the Hawks, Gortat’s numbers started to dip. Instead of diving towards the basket, finding himself wide open underneath the basket, Gortat struggled to score. If he continues to develop his footwork, he’ll have a better chance to stay on the floor when it matters most.
If Gortat, can gain a little speed, or pick up some tips that will help him outside of the paint, Wittman would probably use him more in late game situation which in turn helps the Wizards to have a rim protector on the floor.
Gortat’s lack of mobility and Witt’s failing to use him late cost the Washington Wizards a few games in the 2014-2015 season.
