6) Los Angeles Clippers, Chris Paul and J.J. Redick
So, this duo is number six mainly because of Chris Paul.
CP3 is widely recognized as the best point guard in the league and has been for at least the past few seasons. The way CP3 gets in and out of traffic while making the perfect pass is beautiful to watch.
Paul is routinely at the top of the league in assists. He also has a deadly mid-range jump shot that is probably the best in the league. He will be a first ballot Hall of Famer, even without a championship. Paul is that good.
Which brings us to his backcourt mate, JJ Redick. Redick was a legendary shooter coming out of Duke and everyone thought that he could be one of the next great three point gunners in the league. While that hasn’t happened, Redick isn’t exactly a stiff either.
He’s a very good three point shooter that understands how to pick his spots on offense. Redick also benefits from the attention that his star big men receive. A lot of Redick’s three’s come from kick outs from Blake Griffin or being wide open from the other teams rotating to help down low.
Redick is the type of shooter that can get hot and hurt you with three point daggers all night once he gets going. One of the only negatives with this backcourt is that they aren’t exactly known as a defensive duo, so as much as they score and assist, the opposing team’s backcourt usually has a big game also.
In addition, CP3 has a way of getting under not only his opponent’s skin, but there were whispers that the Clippers players were growing tired of CP3’s constant banter and criticism.
It was also rumored that one of the main reasons the Clippers almost lost unrestricted free agent DeAndre Jordan to the Dallas Mavericks was because Jordan just couldn’t get along with Paul. However, with Paul running point and Jordan ending up re-signing, the Clippers should be in contention once again in 2016.
