The Washington Wizards desperately need rim protection — someone who’s going to put themselves out there and isn’t afraid of getting on a poster or two.
Greg Stiemsma is that guy.
I don’t know if you guys can remember this, but John Wall dunked on Stiemsma pretty hard a few years ago. And if you don’t remember, here you go:
Stiemsma, like Hollins, was close to making an NBA roster before the start of the regular season but just didn’t make the final cut. He’s played all over the place, really. Stiemsma suffered an ACL sprain and there haven’t been many updates regarding his situation. For the sake of this, we’ll pretend that he’s healthy and ready to go.
He’s averaged over one block per game for his career and isn’t afraid of putting his body out there. Stiemsma isn’t the most graceful big man in the world, but he hustles, runs the floor well — and most importantly — isn’t a hindrance on the court.
If Stiemsma is available, Ernie Grunfeld should at least pick up the phone to see what he’s been up to.
