The Washington Wizards desperately need rim protection ā€” someone whoā€™s going to put themselves out there and isnā€™t afraid of getting on a poster or two.

Greg Stiemsma is that guy.

I donā€™t know if you guys can remember this, but John Wall dunked on Stiemsma pretty hard a few years ago. And if you donā€™t remember, here you go:

Stiemsma, like Hollins, was close to making an NBA roster before the start of the regular season but just didnā€™t make the final cut. Heā€™s played all over the place, really. Stiemsma suffered an ACL sprain and there havenā€™t been many updates regarding his situation. For the sake of this, weā€™ll pretend that heā€™s healthy and ready to go.

Heā€™s averaged over one block per game for his career and isnā€™t afraid of putting his body out there. Stiemsma isnā€™t the most graceful big man in the world, but he hustles, runs the floor well ā€” and most importantly ā€” isnā€™t a hindrance on the court.

If Stiemsma is available, Ernie Grunfeld should at least pick up the phone to see what heā€™s been up to.
