6: Otto Porter

Otto Porter has two things to do this summer.

The first is he will have to make the same decision that Harrison Barnes had to last summer: take what will probably be a big long term extension now, or bet on himself to have a good season and become a free agent next summer when the salary cap is projected to be $107 million.

I’ll be very interested to see what Otto decides to do.

The rest of Otto’s time should be spent taking jump shots.

Roughly half of Porter’s shots last season were catch and shoot, 67 percent of all his shots were “open” or “wide open” per nba.com, and yet he produced .97 points per possession in spot-up situations, the same number as Garrett Temple.

For reference Jared Dudley produced 1.11 ppp in spot-up situations and Bradley Beal 1.14 ppp.

John Wall needs wings who can shoot, and Porter needs to springboard his strong end of last season into a productive summer.

5: Ted Leonsis

Ah the life of Ted, the man who never rests.

These days he’s building a new practice facility for the Washington Wizards in Southeast DC, brainstorming names for Monumental Network’s new arena football team – DC’s first since the Washington Commandos 25 years ago (take that Dan Snyder) – and, wondering how much longer he can give a more prominent spot to the $197M Capitals than the $997M Wizards on Monumental’s website.

Not even to mention spitting Ted’s Takes left and right (not to be confused TED Talks).

Leonsis will reap the benefits of the NBA’s new TV deal, but this summer he will also have to spend a lot to field a competitive team.
