Washington Wizards bust, Kwame Brown, is going to attempt an NBA comeback after not playing for about three years, his agency announced.

Failing to properly assess talent could lead to permanently damaging a franchise. If you want proof, look no further than the Washington Wizards.

Washington has picked some players in the NBA Draft that turned out to be colossal busts.

Making their poor analysis even worse is the fact that they passed on a number of All-Star, future Hall-of-Fame talent for players that clearly weren’t fit to succeed in the NBA.

It’s been some time since Kwame Brown has been talked about and that awful memory is still logged in most Wizards fans’ memories.

The Wizards picked Brown first overall out of high school in the 2001 NBA Draft. Tyson Chandler and Pau Gasol were selected right after Brown.

His stint in Washington didn’t last long, though.

Brown was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers after four seasons in a deal that netted the Wizards Caron Butler, who became an All-Star in D.C.

Washington was able to recover from the pick by getting a future All-Star in return, but the fact that Brown was even picked that high is haunting.

Brown went on to play about 12 years in the NBA before finally washing out in 2013. At that point, Brown was never going to shed the label of being one of the worst draft picks in NBA history.

Three years have passed since Brown last played in the NBA and it looks like he’s going to attempt a comeback.

He recently signed with an agency, which announced his future plans.

"Interperformances is proud to announce that the NBA star Kwame Brown decided to sign with our agency. The #1 overall pick of the 2001 draft is ready for a new life. His comeback can be the road to glory for a team that believes in him. Kwame is back, physically healthy and ready to be the outstanding player he was on several NBA teams.A great intimidator that can block shots , rebound consistently and explode in devastating dunks. No longer the young man that entered the NBA, Kwame is now an experienced and mature player and man. And he’s back, for the love of the game."

I had the opportunity to watch Brown play in person with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013. Actually, he didn’t play. He was sitting on the bench. He was hurt, I think. But that was brutal enough.

Every fan that walked by Brown on the bench shouted something like, “Kwame, you suck!” Or, “you’re a bust, Kwame!” It was awful to watch.

With that said, I can understand why Brown wants to make a comeback at 34. He won’t benefit from the salary cap rising, but he might want to redeem himself.

At that age, the redemption will never happen. I can’t imagine a situation where a team might benefit from having him on their roster.

The entire idea of Brown in 2016 is quite sad, really.

We’re about a month away from the start of training camp. Teams aren’t clamoring to sign Brown. He was incredibly underwhelming everywhere he’s played. So why would that change now that he’s aged?

Brown will probably end up playing overseas if he’s serious about continuing his professional career. If Brown just wants to play in the NBA, then his comeback might end at the press release being published.
