Washington Wizards are the third best team in the Eastern Conference, but they must make a trade before the deadline to bolster their bench.

At some point in December, the Washington Wizards woke up, decided to start playing well and never looked back.

It’s hard to believe that the Wizards – without making any changes to their roster – have become the third best team in the Eastern Conference following their brutally disappointing start to the season.

John Wall has become an All-NBA player, while both Bradley Beal and Otto Porter are playing at an All-Star level. Markieff Morris is knocking down shots from deep regularly and Marcin Gortat continues to be one of the league’s leaders in double-doubles.

The Wizards are rolling, but that doesn’t mean changes aren’t necessary.

Washington’s bench is last in scoring and field goal percentage, rivaled only by the Minnesota Timberwolves, who also lack depth.

For the Wizards to make a serious run in the postseason, they’ll need to upgrade their bench.

For this week’s edition of Mailbag Monday, we’ll focus on the upcoming NBA Trade Deadline, which is less than two weeks away.
