What the Washington Wizards Must Do To Get a Win in Game 7
By Ryan Eugene
The immediate pain point from the Game 5 debacle was Washington’s transition defense. An area of strength through three of the first four games, it every aspect of this defensive stable seemed to fall apart in the team’s last game in Boston.
Routinely a missed layup or turnover, led to a Celtic running open to the basket.
One particular issue, was the spacing of the Wizards. On various occasions, all 5 Wizards players were below the free throw line, giving the Celtics a 10 feet or higher head start.
In run through and film session, the coaching staff must have gone over the defensive breakdowns. Open dunks off of turnovers are deflating to the offensive team, and will surely cause Boston’s raucous home crowd to be electric.
Turnovers and fastbreak points been the recipe to the lopsided runs from both teams throughout the series.
