Washington Wizards small forward Otto Porter is in seek of a max contract offer. His journey will begin Sunday, with him meeting with the Sacramento Kings. The Wizards can and are expected to match any offer.
Free agency news for Wizards fans has been sparse. Of course, the most important signing will be the team bringing back starting small forward Otto Porter, and not much can happen until a contract is signed.
Washington met with Porter for two hours at the start of free agency on Saturday, but the talks didn’t lead to a deal. It was reported earlier in the weekend that Porter would now meet with teams, as he seeks a 4-year max contract offer sheet. Now we know the first team he will meet with.
Porter is expected to meet with the teams in D.C., so he won’t be traveling across the country for this meeting. The Kings are a young team looking to rebuild after the trade of DeMarcus Cousins last season.
In June’s NBA Draft, the Sacramento drafted four players, all who are expected to get key playing time next season. Porter would make sense as a signing, as the Kings have mostly players on rookie deals or short contracts.
The Nets are also expected to have a meeting later this weekend. Philadelphia was among the rumored teams, but after signing J.J. Redick and Amir Johnson, it doesn’t appear that the 76ers have enough cap space remaining to make a run at Porter.

Porter’s agent, David Falk, has made it clear to teams that his client is expecting a max contract offer, so expect to see the Wizards ready to pony up some cash once Porter signs the offer sheet.
