Washington Wizards guard John Wall has signed his supermax extension according to reports. The extension will keep Wall under contract in Washington until 2023, and keeps management’s plan in place. In a summer of disappointments for Washington, the team will consider July 21st the best day in recent memory.

The day we’ve all been waiting for. July 21, 2017. John Wall has signed his four-year extension according to David Aldridge.

The extension will kick in after Wall’s current deal expires after the 2019 season. His current deal will pay him $37.1 million over the next two years, while the extension will average a crisp $42.5 million a year.

Wall has always expressed his desire to stay in Washington and bring a championship “home,” but now Wizards fans can rejoice in the news.

With Wall, Beal, and Porter all under 27, the future seems bright. While Ted Leonsis has shown an unwillingness to pay the luxury tax in the past, but seems very willing to go over that limit now. He’s signed off on $276 million in new deals in the last two days.

On the deal, Wall released a “statement” through the Uninterrupted:

Many pundits thought that Wall would not sign, either to hold the Wizards accountable for offseason moves, to leave open the possibility of him making another All-NBA team to get a larger contract, or keep open the possibility of him leaving in free agency in 2019.

Well, unfortunately for the pundits, Wall’s shown his desire to stay in Washington and bring the city that championship.

As we at Wiz of Awes know, this news was broken a week ago.

Wizards fans could not have gotten better news heading into the weekend. Hopefully they’ll take the time to celebrate, and toast to the good life. Meanwhile, Cavaliers fans are somewhere like.

Toast for the good life, indeed.
