The Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors have some similarities on-and-off the court. Like the Wizards, the Raptors retained their core this off-season, by resigning Serge Ibaka and Kyle Lowry to long-term, pricey contracts. They also acquired sharpshooter C.J Miles via sign-and-trade, giving up Cory Joseph in exchange. Both teams hope they’ve done enough to challenge the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference. At the midway point in the off-season, how do they look stacked up against each other?

Not too long ago, the Wizards couldn’t figure out how to beat the Raptors in the regular season. Despite many winnable games that went down to the wire, it just seemed like the Raptors had the Wizards’ number.

Until the Wizards “Swept the North” in the 2015 Eastern Conference Playoffs, and Paul Pierce began trolling Drake on social media. Seriously, that was awesome. What seemed to be on the cusp of a budding rivalry never quite amounted, but the Raptors and Wizards find themselves in similar positions.

Both teams are built around their backcourt, which are two of the best in the league. Both teams, along with the Celtics, pose the most immediate threat to Cavaliers. The question is, who has a better shot at one day winning the East?

Let’s check out how the Wizards stack up against their friends north of the border.
