POINT GUARD
John Wall vs. Kyle Lowry
Kyle Lowry is often forgotten in the discussion of best point guards in the NBA. He’s not flashy like a Steph Curry or overpowering like a Russell Westbrook, but he’s a very solid player. He can shoot, pass, defend, and has a high basketball IQ.
But he’s not quite on the level of John Wall.
Wall has routinely gotten the best of Lowry head-to-head, especially in their playoff series a few years ago. Lowry didn’t have a prayer against Wall, both on offense and defense. This isn’t new, either. Lowry has gained a reputation for coming up small on the big stage.
Lowry is good at many things. The problem is that besides shooting, Wall is better at all of them. Passing, finishing, athleticism – you name it. Defense is a toss-up, but Wall defending at his best is slightly better than what Lowry can do.
Kyle Lowry, you’re a fine basketball player. But you’re no John Wall.
ADVANTAGE: John Wall
