Washington Wizards vs. Toronto Raptors: Comparison
SHOOTING GUARD
Bradley Beal vs. Demar DeRozan
Both of these teams also boast two of the best shooting guards in the league.
Demar DeRozan has an old school game. The majority of his points come from mid-range and the free throw line, and his three point shot is virtually non-existent (26.6% on 1.7 attempts last season). Averaging 27.3 PPG on 46.7% FG is all the more impressive when you consider DeRozan only hit 0.4 3PG.
Bradley Beal, on the other hand, plays a more modern style of basketball. Last season, Beal finally cut down on the inefficient mid-ranger jumpers he used to take at such a high rate. His points largely came off of three pointers and drives to the basket.
Beal has the edge as a shooter, both in terms of three point percentage and field goal percentage. But, it’s hard to argue DeRozan isn’t the better overall player. Although he’s a sieve on defense, he averages significantly more points, rebounds, and assists.
At just 24 years old, Beal will likely surpass DeRozan in the next few years. But as of now, DeRozan is slightly better.
ADVANTAGE: Demar DeRozan
