John Wall turned 27 today and very few know how to turn up like the former “Dougie” champ.
Whether you’re 21 or 61, even the most jaded birthday boy or girl enjoys a good celebration.
As we wish him a happy b-day, here’s a list of his top 7 celebrations from each year he’s been with the Wizards.
1) 2010: The “John Wall” Introduction
Gilbert Arenas was thought to be the future star of D.C. hoops not only because of his scoring ability, but also the charismatic personality that deemed him “Agent 0.” Arenas had some career-altering injuries, however, and the city needed a new face to take his place.
Wall had already made a name for himself in Kentucky with his outgoing personality on and off the floor. He was even a viral sensation, creating his own dance, “The John Wall.”
In 2010, the torch was officially passed as Wall flashed his own version of the popular “Dougie” dance before his first home game.
2) 2011: Stompin- With-the-Big-Dawgs-Dougie
In his first taste of All-Star fun, the rookie dazzled the crowd with a bounce alley-oop to Blake Griffin. The dance afterward might have been better than the pass.
3) 2012: It’s Good
He’s got the blazing speed of an elite running back, so it’s only right for Wall to take it to the football field for this celebration.
4) 2013: Watch Him “Nae-Nae”
The NBA slam dunk contest was made for a big-stage dancer. Wall proves he’s one of the best after jumping over the hometown mascot for a mind-blowing slam.
5) 2014: The Short Shimmy
A four-point play in the face of a Lakers legend. Yup. Time to shimmy.
6) 2015: A Wall Wink
A patented 360-layup with a wink that would make MJ proud.
7) 2016: “This is MY CITY”
It was arguably the shot of his career to this point. Wall takes ownership of D.C. by nailing a game-winning three to force a pivotal Game 7 in the 2016-17 Eastern Conference semifinals.
Shout out to the birthday boy. Here’s to another seven years of cunning celebrations.
