For the 2017-18 NBA season, the Washington Wizards’ John Wall will make the case as to why he deserves to be the league’s MVP.

After leading the Washington Wizards to being one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals, John Wall is on track to have the best season of his career.

Each year, Wall has dealt with injuries prior to the start of a season. For the 2017-18 NBA season, he’s coming in healthy, and with one mission in mind – for the Wizards to reach their conference finals. He will also make a compelling case as to why he should be the league’s MVP.

In a rollercoaster offseason, the NBA season hasn’t been this exciting since Kevin Durant signed with Golden State. With the emergence of superteams in Houston, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Boston, and Cleveland, there appears to be more players in the running for MVP. The superteams may make the playoffs less predictable. However, to discuss the postseason would be a disservice to the exciting season that is about to unfold.

Many questions will be asked during the regular season – Can the tandem of Paul George, Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook coexist in Oklahoma City? Will Minnesota finally emerge as a playoff team and be a serious contender for an NBA championship? Are the Warriors a lock for the NBA championship?

However, the one topic that will be consistently debated – who should be the MVP for the 2017-18 season?

Wall didn’t pick his team. He is leading the soldiers in front of him, since Washington didn’t go out and try to build a superteam. Most of their core players were acquired through the draft. With the growth of Wall, Bradley Beal, and Otto Porter, Jr., not only do the Wizards have continuity, but they are arguably the best team in the East.

LeBron James as the best player in the NBA, will always be in the conversation. However, this article examines why it may be Wall holding up the Maurice Podoloff Trophy, as the Most Valuable Player in the league.
