Washington Wizards waive Carrick Felix, and send Devin Robinson to the G-League.

On Thursday, a day after their embarrassing loss to the Phoenix Suns, the Washington Wizards unexpectedly waived Carrick Felix, and sent Devin Robinson to the G-League. Robinson was already scheduled to report to the Delaware 87ers, as part of his two-way contract with the Wizards’ organization.

Felix recently beat out Donald Sloan for the final roster spot. He didn’t see any playing time during the regular season. In fact his only time on the court was when he left the bench during the Bradley Beal and Draymond Green scuffle. He was assessed a one-game suspension by the league.

Felix served his suspension, without pay, on Wednesday against the Suns.

Regarding Felix’s suspension, Beal had this to say:

"“I might help him out, man. It was all my fault, anyways. I gotta help my guy out. We might start a Go Fund Me and help out my guy Carrick Felix. He’s gonna need some cash, for sure.”"

During the preseason against the Knicks, Felix in 16 minutes of play had five points, one assist and three rebounds. Against Cleveland he had 13 points, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks. He shot 4-for-6 from the field, and 1-for-3 from the three-point line. Felix was also a scrappy defender. After turning the ball over against Cleveland, he was able to steal the inbound pass.

Felix was on a non-guaranteed contract. After clearing waivers this weekend, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.

The Wizards now have an open roster spot. It will be interesting to see what they do with it.
