According to the New York Post, backup point guard Ramon Sessions has recently falling out of favor with Knicks’ Head Coach Jeff Hornacek. If the Knicks cut Sessions, should the Washington Wizards give him another shot?

After the Washington Wizards waived Carrick Felix, they were left with an open roster spot. There is a need for more depth in the middle, but also the backup point guard position could use some help. The New York Post recently reported that Ramon Sessions has fallen out of favor with Knicks Coach Jeff Hornacek. If Sessions is cut, should the Wizards give him another chance?

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post:

"“In the second quarter Wednesday at Amway Center, Jeff Hornacek motioned to the bench. Point guard Ramon Sessions popped up, started taking off his warm-up top. It was a false alarm. A Knicks assistant told him to sit back down….It became another DNP for Sessions, and his future as a Knick is unclear. After starting the first three games, when the Knicks began 0-3, he’s been pinned to his seat — only playing during garbage time of the blowout loss to the Rockets.”"

Jarret Jack is now the Knicks’ new starting point guard. Regarding Sessions’ demotion, so far he has taken it in stride.

"“I’ve played my whole career, first time in my 11 years this has actually happened,” Sessions said in his first remarks on his demotion. “I’ve been around a while, been around different scenarios. It’s still early. It’s a long season. In the NBA, a lot of things can happen.’’"

This being his first season with the Knicks, Sessions has been averaging 5.8 points and 3.5 assists. For the 2016-17 season in Charlotte, behind Kemba Walker, he averaged 6.2 points and 2.6 assists. In his last season with the Wizards, he averaged 9.9 points and 2.9 assists.

Sessions would be an adequate backup to John Wall. He’s known for aggressively attacking the basket and drawing fouls. He’s also a 79 percent free throw shooter. Something that’s been troubling the Wizards of late.

If Sessions does becomes available, even if the Wizards don’t pick him up, at least they have options.
