The Washington Wizards are coming off of three straight wins, and looking for their fourth, as they travel to Miami to take on the Heat. Although the Heat swept Washington last season, in all of four of their matchups, the Wizards are very hot right now.
They have figured out their defense, and also that they’re not going to beat teams in a shootout. For their last three games, they have held their opponents to under a 100 points.
As John Wall said, after their win against Sacramento:
"“Both units are letting their defense dictate their offense, in the past we let our offense dictate our defense, that’s why we had so many bad lapses.”"
Currently, Miami is near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, in the 11th spot. While the Wizards are near the top, in third place, with an 8-5 record.
An old friend will be in the lineup tonight. Former Celtic Kelly Olynyk is now with the Heat. The power forward’s averaging 9.8 points and 5.8 rebounds this season. While their point guard, Goran Dragic, is averaging 19.8 points and 4.8 assists.
If the Wizards continue to dial up their defensive intensity, and communicate with each other on the floor, when their teammates need help, this is one of the games that they should win.
This is a home-and-home set for the two teams. After the Wizards play in Miami, they return home on Friday, to play the Heat again.
Tip-off is at 7:30 PM at American Airlines Arena.
