The Washington Post’s Candace Buckner reported on Tuesday, that Bradley Beal was named an All-Star. This marks the Washington Wizards‘ shooting guard’s first appearance and it’s well deserved.

In addition to being selected as a reserve by the Eastern Conference coaches, Beal will also participate in the Three-Point Shootout.

This accolade shouldn’t surprise Wizards’ fans, as the shooting guard has been shooting lights out almost every game. The All-Star guard has been averaging 23.6 points and shooting 36.8 percent from three-point range.

Beal has expanded his game, holding true on his promise that he wants to be known as more than a sharpshooter. He has been aggressive in the paint, and sometimes took point guard duties while John Wall was out with injury.

On Jan. 2, he was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. In their win against the Houston Rockets I wrote:

"“The NBA should just hand Beal his All-Star spot, because he’s been on a tear this season. Ripping up the court, shooting threes and aggressive drives to the basket.”"

The unwritten story is Beal’s belief in himself. Of course, there used to be jokes when he was plagued with injuries. Yet, he didn’t respond in kind. Instead, he quietly worked on becoming the best that he knew he could be.

Before fans feared when Beal got knocked down, now he’s fearless. He has more than earned his moniker as being the “real deal” this season.

It’s quite the accomplishment that he has been recognized for both his talent and hard work.

All-Star Weekend is scheduled for Feb. 17 in Los Angeles,.
