Second-Half Adjustment

In the second half, the Wizards controlled the pace and picked up the tempo. With Tomas Satoransky having a beautiful rainbow three in the third quarter.

Not only was Washington making their shots, they also had defensive stops.

The Wizards began to dig into the Knicks’ lead, while Gortat woke up on the offensive end.

All Wizards starters helped cut down New York’s lead to six points. With 5:36 left in the third quarter and New York only up 81-75, coach Hornacek would call a time out.

Washington cut down a 27-point deficit to take the lead 86-83, after Bradley Beal knocked down a three-pointer, with a little over three minutes left in the third quarter.

Washington outscored New York 39-15. They would end the third frame up 90-87.

Wizards fought through the fourth quarter

Enes Kanter was a big problem for the Wizards inside the paint, finishing with 24 points and 14 rebounds. But Hardaway wasn’t as the Wizards held him scoreless in the final frame.

Beal showed why he’s truly an All-Star, with 36 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds.

While Satoransky would have a key block in the final two minutes of the game. Sato was simply stupendous with a career high 11 assists.

He finished the game with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks and only 1 turnover.

Otto Porter continued his spectacular play with 22 points and 6 rebounds.

Ian Mahinmi had an excellent game and was active on both ends of the court. He shot 6-for-8 from the field, with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Markieff Morris (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Gortat (6 points, 8 rebounds).

In addition to the win, Beal had a career-night.

After the game Beal was asked what happened during halftime, “Coach cussed us out”. Well whatever Brooks said, it worked.

Both Beal and John Wall are headed to Los Angeles for the All-Star break. Beal will participate in both the three-point contest on Saturday and the All-Star Game on Sunday.

Congratulations to Beal on becoming an All-Star, he earned it.

For a much-needed and well-deserved break, the Wizards don’t play again until next week Thursday. They will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
