In recent years, defense was nonexistent, thus the NBA increased the financial incentives to make the game more competitive. Each player for the winning team would receive $100,000, while the losing team players would receive $25,000.
Although most players weren’t aware of the increase, they agreed that it would change the nature of how the game has been played.
"“Well, I would like to think so,” Boston Celtics forward Al Horford told ESPN. “I think guys will definitely take the game more seriously. In the last couple of years, the games haven’t been good, and we’re all aware of that. Regardless of that, I think guys are going to come out and compete. But that’s a big incentive, for sure. We’re going to be diving for loose balls out there.”"
But for Beal it’s not about the money. Rather an opportunity to showcase the hard work and dedication he has put into perfecting his craft.
John Wall became a five-time All-Star, but would have to sit this one out while recovering from knee surgery. He still made the trip out to L.A., participating in NBA Care Day visiting a local children’s hospital with Beal.
The Raptors’ Dwane Casey coached Team LeBron. While the Rockets Mike D’Antoni coached Team Stephen.
Let’s get to the game.
