Solid Rim Protection

Washington has a lot of shooters on their payroll, what they don’t have is solid rim protection.

Markieff Morris and Marcin Gortat can’t show up one game (Pelicans) and disappear the next (Miami) to combine for seven points and seven rebounds.

Gortat has to be fearless inside the paint. No more hanging your head down low after a missed board.

Al Horford of the Celtics is a perimeter shooter. An extra step or two isn’t going to hurt. Go outside the paint and defend the line.

If Bradley Beal can grab rebounds, then Gortat can start going out to help defend the 3-point line, when his man is attempting a three.

Also Gortat shouldn’t be afraid to foul. I mean you have to start banging down low, don’t wait. Start fighting for the ball inside the paint.

If you happen to foul, at least the opponent knows he isn’t getting an easy walk to the basket. Because that’s what they’re seeing now.
