The Washington Wizards five-time All-Star John Wall has been listed as “questionable” for Thursday’s game against the Detroit Pistons. Never has the word “questionable” ever looked so good besides a player name.
During Tuesday’s broadcast of the Wizards win against the Spurs, Chris Miller of NBC Sports Washington, reported that Wall’s return was “imminent”.
Then news comes today from the Wizards organization that Wall will travel with the team to Detroit.
The Wizards have eight games left in the regular season, and currently hold the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Pistons may be a good game for Wall to get his feet wet. Or he could wait for Saturday’s matchup against the Hornets.
Charlotte has been a team that has given the Wizards trouble all season.
According to the Washington Post, Wall won’t see game action until he confers with his surgeon who performed the knee procedure, along with the team’s medical staff and coach Brooks.
Even if Wall doesn’t play on Thursday it’s a very good sign that he’s close to returning.
It’s good news all around for Washington, because they have such a reliable backup point guard in Tomas Satoransky. Something they didn’t have last year.
In addition, they also have the veteran guard Ramon Sessions who’s signed for the rest of the season.
Whether Wall is on minutes restriction or not, it’s good to know that he won’t have to play extended minutes, now that the Wizards are bench deep with guards.
The Washington Wizards stepped up, allowing Wall to step onto the court better than he was at the start of the season.
Notwithstanding their current seeding, the Wizards are in better position than they were last year. Wall now has other players to share point guard duties.
Can’t imagine his legs getting tired, now that he doesn’t have to return to the game early with Sato and Sessions on deck.
So if Wall is able to ease into the remainder of the regular season, then the postseason is anybody’s guess.
Like Brooks said, the Wizards are lucky to add one of the best players in the NBA this late in the season.
